  • “To ensure that the ABA would promote women’s advancement in the Association, the Commission created in 1991 the Goal IX Report Card (“Report”), which measures the progress of women in ABA leadership positions. The Report, now the Goal III Report, is issued annually and analyzes women’s participation in the Association’s Board of Governors, House of Delegates, committees, sections and divisions, standing and special committees, and forum committees. A historical review of these Reports reveals findings that are both encouraging and discouraging. While the overall trend from 1991 to 2012 in the percentage of women holding ABA leadership positions is upward, the rate of increase has remained relatively static or slightly decreased in recent years. However, the Commission is pleased to report that for 2011-2012, the percentage of women in ABA leadership positions increased in three of the four categories…”
