Georgetown Law Library Equal Justice Film Festival Presents Gideon’s Army

Gideon’s Army Produced and directed by Georgetown Law graduate Dawn Porter: “A 2013 Sundance award winning documentary, Gideon’s Army follows the personal stories of three young public defenders in the Deep South challenging the assumptions that drive a criminal justice system strained to the breaking point. As of this spring, it has been 50 years since the landmark Supreme Court ruling Gideon v. Wainwright that established the right to counsel. This film is a window into the reality of the work of public defenders. It asks the question, can these courageous lawyers and their colleagues revolutionize the way America thinks about indigent defense and make “justice for all” a reality? The event is free and open to the public. Georgetown University Law Center – McDonough Hall, Hart Auditorium, Map & Directions.
