Reed Tech and Internet Archive Announce Agreement to Collaborate on Archive-It

The agreement combines the commercial archiving experience and resources of Reed Tech with the breadth and depth of the Internet Archive, the largest publicly available web archive in existence and the foremost provider of web archiving services for the cultural heritage marketplace. First launched at the Internet Archive in early 2006, Archive-It has been providing a sophisticated and flexible solution to a broad range of organizations and institutions focused on creating and managing collections of web content. The service has a core mission of ensuring the availability and access of curated web collections specifically developed to provide continuous, open and multi-generational access…Archive-It is a subscription based service launched in early 2006 at the [non-profit] Internet Archive. The service enables organizations to build, manage and preserve collections of web content. The service includes hosting of the data, access, and two copies stored in perpetuity. The service currently has almost 300 partner organizations in 46 U.S. states and 16 countries. These organizations have created over 2300 public collections which are browse-able and searchable at www.archiveit.org.”
