  • “SEC’s records include confidential treatment requests files, correspondence, investigation records, matters under inquiry records, transcripts, working papers, consumer complaint files, Congressional and Chairman files, administrative proceedings files, self-regulatory files, bankruptcy files, effective orders, etc. On November 28, 2011, a presidential memorandum was issued on managing government records. This memorandum emphasized the importance of having well-managed records management program that includes reducing redundant efforts, minimizing costs and sharing institutional knowledge within and across organizations. Further, the memorandum states that “proper records management is the backbone of open Government.”
