From the “this is not normal’ section of the The New York Times: [we are] looking for generals and admirals who are quitting the military following an address from the defense secretary. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s vision of the military and what it should be was almost entirely defined by his 12 months of service in Iraq and his experience as a major in the Army National Guard.
During an address Tuesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth invited the U.S. military’s generals and admirals to quit, “if the words I’m speaking today are making your heart sink.” In his speech, he announced plans to relax the rules of engagement, curtail whistle-blower and inspector-general functions, impose tougher fitness testing and make other changes to U.S. military policies. If you are a senior U.S. military leader, we invite you to answer the following questions: Are you resigning your commission? If so, why? Please provide us with a way to contact you confidentially. We will not publish your name and role without your permission.
