As many as 100 Epstein victims will attend Washington rally Wednesday

  • Miami Herald – “As many as 100 survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and other victims of sexual abuse are expected to attend a rally Wednesday in Washington, D.C. as a bipartisan Congressional effort gains steam to force the U.S. Department of Justice to make public its controversial files on the disgraced sex trafficker. Two lawmakers, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) are pushing for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives that would mandate U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to release the files on the Epstein case. The lawmakers are holding a press conference 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with 10 survivors, some of whom have not spoken publicly before. In advance of the press conference, some 100 survivors are expected at a rally organized by several victim advocate groups near the Capitol. “The voices of survivors have been omitted from the conversation for far too long,” said Lauren Hersh, National Director of World Without Exploitation, one of the groups organizing the event. “This is the moment to stand united to ensure that those who’ve been exploited and abused are heard loud and clear…”
  • Snopes: “As of this writing, survivors of abuse by Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, were, in fact, planning to hold a news conference on Sept. 3, as Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., first announced in Aug. 11 social media posts. In those posts, Massie and Khanna said they would speak at the event about their co-sponsored bill to release the so-called “Epstein files.” One of the lawyers representing the survivors, Brad Edwards, confirmed the accuracy of Massie’s and Khanna’s posts via an Aug. 26 email to Snopes.  According to the two lawmakers’ posts, they will hold the news conference at 10:30 a.m. in the House Triangle, a location outside the U.S. Capitol often used for these sorts of events. Massie’s post said several of the survivors “will be speaking out for the first time,” a detail Edwards also confirmed via email…”
  • Crooks & Liars: “Please pay attention today to the explosive session with 10 Epstein victims as they share their stories with the public. Don’t pay attention to Trump’s circus created to distract from the horror of Epstein and Maxwell’s actions. In the video above, Epstein survivor Jess Michaels told MSNBC: “She’s looking for courage from Republicans” and reminded viewers that No one should be FOR child sex trafficking.” It’s insane that Republicans must be REMINDED that child sex trafficking is wrong, but here we are. Activist Mike Nellis published an articulate Substack post on September 2. Nellis reminds Americans to ignore Trump’s distractions, as the Epstein survivors share their stories on Capitol Hill. Nellis writes: “Epstein’s victims are testifying this week. Their stories will be raw, painful, and impossible to bury.”Nellis points out that, in addition to the Epstein survivors’ press conference on September 3, Trump is likely planning a “look here, not there” moment to distract from economic news…”
