“The objective of this report is to describe the linkage of the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) with air monitoring data obtained from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This report is divided into several sections. The first two sections introduce and give background information concerning the linkage. The third section describes the methodological issues that arose during the linkage of the two national data systems, including characteristics of the input datasets, selection of monitors from the EPA data for inclusion, and the assignment of pollution exposures for each respondent. The fourth section describes the resulting linked data files, and the fifth section summarizes the report and presents conclusions.”
