DOI OIG Assessment of the United States Park Police

Department of the Interior, Office of Inspector General Assessment of the United States Park Police, February 2008, PI-EV-NPS-0001-2007.

  • “This memorandum transmits our report detailing the results of our assessment of the United States Park Police (USPP). This assessment is part of our continuing efforts to evaluate the management of Department of the Interior law enforcement programs following the Department’s initiative to reform law enforcement. We found a number of weaknesses in USPP’s management and operations that adversely affect the level of security at national icons and present officer safety concerns. We also found that USPP has failed to adequately manage its financial affairs. Finally, we found USPP to be an agency suffering from low morale and lacking confidence in its command staff.”
