Legal Issues Raised Over Wiretapping Internet Calls

The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) transfers communications over the Internet rather than through the PSTN (public switched telephone network). Privacy advocates are monitoring this issue as broadband phone companies such as Vonage and Net2Phones have indicated their intention to cooperate with the government in their surveillance efforts.
